Meet the Team
Meet the caring team at Idaho Weight Loss & Wellness who offer compassionate care, understanding, and a path to wellness!
After discovering some physicians at the Cenegenics Medical Institute in Las Vegas, Dr. Gilman changed his career path. They were willing to think outside the box in order to help him with his own major medical diagnosis at 39 years old. These preventative medicine physicians helped him set goals not just to control diabetes but to eliminate his diabetes altogether. Dr. Gilman’s quality of life returned through hormone optimization, medications, nutraceuticals, dietary changes, and exercise. In other words, he started thriving instead of just surviving.
Dr. Gilman is a local physician. He grew up in Boise, graduating from Borah High School. He first went to Boise State University, then on to Brigham Young University. Next, Dr. Gilman graduated from Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He then completed an Internship in Emergency Medicine followed by a Residency in Family Medicine at the University of California at Irvine.
Dr. Gilman chose to serve for two years with the National Health Service Corps in Arizona before moving back to Idaho. He ran the Cascade Medical Center while starting the Tamarack Medical Clinic in the beautiful lake country of the west-central part of the State.
As an avid mountain biker, he, with his wife Krystal, raised their three children riding the mountain trails around Idaho, Utah, and Canada. He is a musician, a loving father and husband, an outdoorsman, and a concertgoer. He believes science and wellness can transform lives allowing people to thrive instead of just survive.
Dr. Gilman focuses on preventative medicine, promoting wellness using scientific advances from many branches of medicine. After his experience with Cenegenics, he returned to pursue fellowship training in preventative medicine. Professional Associations include The Obesity Medicine Association, The American Association of Anti-Aging Medicine, and the North American Sexual Medicine Association.
“I love people and care about our employees. I feel like if help to promote a fun and caring culture at Idaho Weight Loss and Wellness, that also helps our patients do their best to achieve their wellness goals.”
Krystal is the wife of Dr. Gilman. They have been married for thirty-four years and have three children and a daughter and son-in-law. Their goals are to have fun together as often as possible. They enjoy mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, and eating good food as a family. When Krystal is not working, she doesn’t sit still – growing a flower and vegetable garden and landscaping is how she expresses her creativity. In addition, she loves to cook, explore new recipes, and nurture others with delicious and healthy food.
Krystal enjoys staying active and fit because it helps her feel well, whether it is yoga, strength training, or mountain biking. Krystal is compassionate and good at inspiring people, including her husband. Her favorite quote is by Ernest Hemingway: “The world breaks everyone, and afterward many are strong at the broken places.”
“Patient care is one of my favorite parts of the job. Our patients are the reason I continue to love my job year after year!
Cassia holds patient accomplishments dear. She loves hearing about the joyful parts of life: weddings, birthdays, travel, and the things that make us all who we are.
“I really enjoy how this clinic is small; thus, I get to know the patients better each time they come in. Also, all of our patients are great, friendly, and kind, so it is nice to be around them.
“Weight loss is not an easy process, as I have also struggled with the same battle. I want to be able to provide just a little bit of encouragement to our patients so that they keep trucking along in their journey and not give up on their goal!”
Paige enjoys working at Idaho Weight Loss and Wellness because the environment created by the doctors and staff is so nurturing for the patients and each other.
“I enjoy watching patients achieve goals that they have set for themselves. It really is rewarding being a part of their journey and getting to see the physical/emotional change.”
“Anything having to do with losing weight is pretty sensitive — especially to some people. I like being here to remind them that they’re doing amazing work and not to beat themselves up when they feel like they’re not achieving anything.”
